An Anniversary Of Sorts

A couple of days ago I happened to notice I had reached my thirteenth year as an employee of Eastern Washington University.  On November 1, 2004 I began my career as the assistant director for IT and later transitioned to a myriad of technical positions.  I had come from Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington and was used to working alone and making things happen just be deciding to.  Those were the days of the “webmaster”.

I made the move to EWU because my wife and I were having our first child and had always agreed if we were going to have kids she would become a stay-at-home mom.  A new job, a new house, new commute, a new way of life and a new way of working with a team of people who were a whole helluva lot smarter than I was.  It was a humbling experience but it awoke me to the reality that I had a lot of learning to do.
